Whalen - Lovancie Fruits

Mrs. Lovancie Whalen, 79, of 409 N. Grant Avenue who with her husband operated Whalen's Restaurant here for several years, died today in the Ben Hur Nursing Home. She had resided there 3 years. She attended Christ United Methodist Church. Born July 2, 1894, near Alamo, she was a daughter of Howard and Elvaritta Stonebraker Fruits. She was first married July 6, 1910 to Perry Swank. Her second marriage was to Ralph L. Whalen. He died in 1968. Survivors include three sons, Ray Swank of Waynetown and Leslie and Howard Swank of Crawfordsville; two daughters, Mrs. Thelma hastaday of Crawfordsville and Mrs. Mary Pettengill of Toledo, Ohio; a brother, James Fruits of Waynetown, 10 grandchildren 19 great grandchildren. Services will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday in Hunt & Son Funeral Home. Burial will be in Darlington IOOF Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Thursday. - kbz
